I do not believe that tutoring is useful for studying.
For effective learning a subject, try the following:
1. Grasp a complete understanding of all concepts covered
2. Clarify those concepts you don't understand with your teachers
3. Identify your weaknesses in the subject concerned, and try to resolve them
- e.g. not good in programming skills: have you well understood the language constructs? have you done enough programming exercises? how to you do your debugging (by following the program flow, or just my chance)?
4. Do some practicing exercises, spot out and correct any mistakes committed
5. Enable a deep understanding of the concepts by thinking what, how, and why for them
