To me, I will prefer my students choosing Astronomy and Atomic world (especially for Atomic world)!

Please refer to my analysis as follows:

1. Most topics in Energy and use of energy and Medical physics are not HKALE questions, So we mainly can refer to Overseas exam pastpapers e.g. GCE AL, IB Diploma and HSC, etc.

    However, the difficulties of those overseas exam papers cannot compared to  that of HKALE questions (I also teach GCE and IB students, so i know the difference.). i.e. 你估唔到佢問幾深....

2. I guess at least 50%-60% marks of Astronomy and Atomic world (especially for Atomic world) will refer to HKALE pastpapers format, therefore, even you do not have any idea about those new topics added in HKDSE, you can got at least half of the marks in elective parts, which most likely give you a 4-5 in elective part.

3. Lastly, although difficulties and format of Overseas exam pastpapers are not exactly the same, it still provide a good reference to those new-added topics.

I hope you can choose the most suitable topics for yourself!

approach to your answer:
there is a change in KE
the answer obtained is considered the change in momentum which is wrong
the answer approach is 6x4=5x (X)
X=4.8
change is KE = 0.5x5x4.8^2-0.5x6x3^2=9.6J=10J

but in my opinion,
since the ball is shooted vertically which is neither explosion nor collision
in this case, there is no change is velocity
thus there is the change in mass
so the answer should be 0.5x1x4^2=8J
A is the answer

Yes, my answer on the 2nd page is wrong. the correct ans should be A. It is just like projectile motion.
