I am a transfer student from hku Bnurs to archi 2 years ago and faced the same difficulties as most of you guys that my CE+AL is not good enough to get into my favourite subject.
I read some of the previous posts and i would like to clarify some misunderstanding on hku transfer.
Transfer to yr2 of another faculty is only possible if you are transferring between BA/ 6901/ Engin/ SocSc/ BBA as they share some elective course.
Other specialized curriculum such as MBBS,BDS, archi, surv. consists of core subjects, studio or practicum that you must pass in Yr1 before proceeding to Yr2.
None of the course in engine overlaps with archi or surveying, which implies you can only transfer to yr1.
the application of int. transfer starts around late April. But i think you should start to contact your target faculty immediately after the release of sem1 GPA, and try different means to impress the professor who are responsible for undergrad admission. If you can impress the professor, then he may place your application to a higher priority in the JUPAS queue...
You may discuss with the professor about your ambition and the reason you like the subject (read more books beforehand for specific examples and theories)
Avoid discussing the reasons you dislike the current subject to prevent any bad impression.
Some of the people are considering to transfer to MBBS.
My advice will be to study related curriculum within the same faculty, such as Bnurs or Chinese medicine.
The reason is that quite a number of core courses shared between MBBS, Bnurs and C.Med., providing u a chance to develop rapport with the professors.
If you perform well in those courses such as Anatomy and Physiology, you can request related professors to draft you a reference letter to transfer to MBBS.
You can also impress the professors by organizing different public events or class activities for them.
I am not sure about the strategy on trans-U. It must be more difficult than internal transfer.
To be honest, I applied a total of 4 subjects through non-jupas to CU and PolyU.
I received several letters of no offer after 2 weeks without any interviews.
