Electrochemical seris question please help. Chemical cell

in a chemical cell, there are two solution : potassium iodide, and iron(III) nitrate

i know iodide will release e- by:
2I- --> I2 + 2e-

but why iron (III) accept the e- become iron (II), instead of 2H+ NO3-  E- --> NO2 +H2O?

By electrochemical series? or any factor?

I doubt if the reaction is feasible.
Fe(NO3)3(aq) + 3 KI(aq) --> FeI3(aq) + 3 KNO3(aq)
all are soluble in water
I am not sure if any redox reaction would occur.
Pls point out if I have got something wrong.

Choose the ion from the common OA and common RA list
You can find
2I-   ->  I2  +  2e-
Fe3+  +  e-  -> Fe2+
on there

it works for most of the redox case, and at least it works for HKDSE
